Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Task Manager for the region, the intern is expected to provide support with regards to communication and outreach of UNEP’s GEF mitigation portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean. Specifically, the internship will entail the following tasks:
a) Develop a communication and outreach strategy for the UNEP GEF mitigation team;
b) Prepare a list of communications ideas based on projects of UNEP’s GEF portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean
c) Determine communication pieces to be developed based on the list in (a), based on consultation with the Task Manager and relevant UNEP teams in Nairobi and Paris;
d) Undertake research for the communication pieces, including interviews with country actors, under the guidance of the Task Manager and relevant UNEP teams in Nairobi and Paris;
e) Prepare first drafts and subsequent drafts of the communication pieces and submit for Task Manager, Nairobi and Paris UNEP office review;
f) Together with Nairobi and Paris UNEP offices, prepare the final communication products;
g) Organize an in-house webinar and make a presentation on the communication products;
h) Performing other tasks as required. Supporting other activities of the LAC team as requested.

Education
The applicant at the time of application must meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (university degree or equivalent, or higher), in the fields of communication, journalism, advertising, marketing, broadcasting, public relations or others related fields;
b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) in one of the fields indicated in item a);
c) Have graduated with a university degree in one of the fields indicated in item a) and, if selected, commence the internship within one-year after graduation.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency (both oral and written) in English and Spanish is required.
Assessment
Potential candidates will be contacted by hiring manager directly for further consideration.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
