INTERN, ENGINEERING

8 month term position (2 positions)

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking an Intern for our Engineering Department to start in January, 2022 and the other starting May 2022. The select candidate will currently be in pursuit of a Bachelors degree in Engineering, have basic knowledge of industry standards and best practices and have strong organizational and planning skills. Having experience with AutoCad and/or other related software is an asset. Must have a cooperative approach to teamwork with an emphasis on successfully completing site goals and providing strong customer service to internal and external stakeholders. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction and guidance of our Facilities and Engineering team the Intern, Engineering will coordinate and commission facility, process, and lab equipment. In addition, this position will work towards achieving operational excellence and 6S process development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and commission facility, process, and lab equipment by;

Conducting system documentation reviews and updates (drawings, manuals, certifications)

Assisting with I/O testing

Assisting in conducting quality documentation review, generation and issuance

PM, SOP, Calibrations

Developing component lists and identifications

Assisting in conducting safety review of equipment

Assisting with tracking and commissioning new equipment

Assisting in conducting alarm and interlock testing

Assisting in conducting power failure testing

Assisting in conducting operational testing

Assist with managing outsourced construction and design, including on-site verification and inspections.

Verify equipment drawings in parallel with retagging of equipment to meet SAP standards.

Aid in manufacturing change-over, including organizing the movement of equipment, testing and commissioning.

Aid in achieving operational excellence including 6S process development.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Currently in pursuit of a Bachelors degree in Engineering or technical diploma required.

Basic knowledge of industry standards and best practices required.

Previous related work experience will be considered an asset.

Experience with AutoCAD and/or other related software is an asset.

General working knowledge of 6S principles required.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Cooperative approach to teamwork with emphasis on successfully completing site goals and providing strong customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Strong technical skills with great attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Must demonstrate willingness to learn and develop.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Experience in a pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or related industry would be an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.

Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
