Te Tari Taake 'Inland Revenue' plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa 'New Zealand'. We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

Mō te roopu | About the team

Here at Inland Revenue, we want to make customers lives easier by using Behavioural Insights so they can thrive.

Join our newly formed in-house behaviour change specialist team that uses customer facts and insights to solve strategic business problems. We use intelligence, research, evaluation, and behaviour change methodologies to help design effective customer interventions, whether they are product and service constructs, processes, policies, communications, and other behavioural influences. We work with other parts of Inland Revenue to support and influence change for better customer outcomes.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will be in a pivotal role in advancing the use of behavioural insights and behaviour change principles within Inland Revenue. You will unlock opportunities and help build behavioural insights capability across the organisation by helping others 'learn by doing' through intervention design. You will be:

  • Identifying opportunities to change behaviour using customer research, behavioural analytics, and journey maps.
  • Designing research methodologies and managing projects that understand the drivers and barriers of behaviours.
  • Bringing a behavioural lens into intervention design processes (using agile methodologies).
  • Helping pilot, iterate and test the feasibility of behaviour change interventions.
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the behavioural outcomes of deployed interventions and disseminating findings.

Mōu | About you

To be successful in this position you will possess the following experience of:

  • Primary customer research (both qualitative and quantitative).
  • Secondary research (collecting, collating, and synthesising multiple secondary insight sources).
  • The EAST, COM-B and/or other behavioural insights and behaviour change models.
  • The behaviour change/intervention design process, either directly or advisory capacity.
  • Workshop facilitation experience.
  • Project management skills - task identification and work in progress management.
  • Strategic direction of projects - able to see the big picture and convince others about programme objectives, outputs and methodology.
