Te Tari Taake 'Inland Revenue' plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa 'New Zealand'. We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

M&#333 te roopu | About the team

The Information & Intelligence Services group is responsible for connecting users of the service with the right content and information, in the right context and at the right time.

These services include:

  • Centre for Enterprise Data & Analytics (CEDA)
  • Enterprise Information & Knowledge
  • Intelligence & Insights
  • Marketing & Communications

These teams have oversight of IR's data and information governance groups and lead the development of IR's data and information strategy.

M&#333 te t&#363nga | About the role

As an Intelligence & Insight Specialist in CEDA, you would be contributing to our work from a data & analytical technical perspective. This means you would need to have the skills, knowledge, and experiences to be able to work through complex technical problems and challenge the thinking to get the best outcome.

This is a technical role where you will be focussed on one or more of the following domains, with support and mentorship from your peers:

  • Data Science, including predictive modelling and graph analytics
  • Data Engineering, including writing SQL queries and building data assets
  • Insights generation, using the above alongside tools such as dashboards to discover and disseminate insights to our internal customers.

You will work alongside a team of experienced Insights and Intelligence specialists, with a range of technical capabilities and subject matter expertise to support you. You will have a cutting-edge cloud-based platform at your disposal, including Snowflake, SAS Viya, and R Studio.

  • Effectively use data and information to develop insights that inform and drive high quality decision making
  • Use your experience and/or academic knowledge, choosing an appropriate solution to solve a problem.
  • Use your great communication skills to work with others in the team, as well as our internal customers, so we may develop the best solutions.
  • Remain up to date with emerging technology, trends, and concepts to ensure we adhere to best practice.

You will have experience and/or relevant qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Data engineering & modelling, building and maintaining effective data assets using standard design methodologies
  • Building scalable, enduring analytical solutions
  • SQL / SAS(Viya) / R Studio, or similar
  • Data science concepts such as classification, predictive modelling, and graph analytics
  • Design and deployment of data visualisations, communicating insights effectively
