Project Description
The purpose of the USAID Liberia Foundational Skills Activity is to increase the percentage of Liberian children accessing primary school and meeting government of Liberia learning standards. This activity will build on the achievements of USAID Read Liberia, Accelerated Quality Education for Liberia Children (AQE), and coordinate and collaborate planned interventions under this anticipated award with other partners in the education sector in Liberia and across other USG-funded sectors. USAID anticipates this to be a five-year program.
Position Description
RTI is seeking Technical Experts for the USAID Liberia Foundational Skills Activity. Candidates with prior experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply.
Primary school education access, community engagement, and accelerated learning
Evidence-based teaching and teacher training strategies, including Universal Design for Learning
Gender, social inclusion, equity, and youth development; positive school environment; strategies for decreasing school- related gender-based violence
Position is contingent upon award and funding.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
Working with the Chief of Party (COP) and other technical leadership in the design, rollout, and implementation of program activities
Providing high-quality technical input in development, use, and monitoring of program materials
Supporting capacity building and training
Providing mentorship, and contributing to professional development of program staff
Contributing to the development of annual work plans, work plan budgets, and other required deliverables
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience, or Master's degree and 10 years of experience, or PhD and 6 years of experience in education, education policy and planning, public/business, or other relevant field
Proven track record working on education systems-strengthening projects, including quality improvement, leadership and management, accountability, and resource management and managing mechanisms, among others.
Demonstrated experience working with senior level representatives of developing country governments, international organizations, U.S. Government Agencies, other bilateral donors, civil society organizations, and private sector organizations.
Strong analytical and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web-based research)
Experience with USAID (highly desirable) and other donors (e.g. GPE, World Bank, DFID, etc.).
Liberia experience is strongly preferred.
