Primary Responsibilities
Proactively provides expert analysis and advice to SVP Insights & Client Engagement (I&CE) through reporting and insights for I&CE NIE including providing key information, and ongoing advice to enable management decision making and establish action plans to maximize financial performance.
Acts as lead for I&CE NIE/FTE as part of the Five Year Outlook, where incumbent will partner with I&CE management teams to determine both NIE & FTE outlook, ensuring that rationale for any increases are clearly articulated & available to LOB Finance partners to support increases in annual expenses.
Prepares and consolidates the annual Plan, Forecasts, and monthly estimates
Support business initiatives, i.e. Zero Based Budgeting, Activity Based Costing, Wall of Numbers, Mega Journeys (Next Best Action/Next Best Offer), Climate, etc.
In addition to supporting the SVP, I&CE, act as the key Finance contact to provide ongoing support and performance analysis re: NIE/FTE to I&CE leaders
Works with Director of I&CE Finance to make recommendations re: distribution of platform NIE challenges to I&CE and develops strategies to achieve NIE challenge.
Responsible for development of NIE allocation %s at the I&CE cost transit level leveraging Wall of Numbers (WoN) to enable full P&L reporting for CB LoBs.
Provides specialized expert advice and solutions contributing to the ongoing transparency of NIE aligned to line of business allocated NIE reporting.
Acts as key liaison and point of integration for National Office functional groups for all strategic performance related targets and initiatives impacting I&CE financial and performance management results.
Key support to the Director, I&CE Finance, proactively adding value added expertise and advice on initiatives and their impact on financial performance.
Responsible to ensure financial forecasts and results incorporate pertinent info and adhere to data integrity and financial compliance requirements.
Identify, recommend and implement efficient standard processes for the timely reporting of financial information.
Must Have
Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, with good interpersonal skills in order to establish relationships across all levels of the enterprise.
Experience in financial reporting & analysis and cost management.
Experience using metrics, KPIs and cost/value drivers in performance management
Strong technical skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with unique financial systems such as EPM (IBM Cognos).
Solid business acumen and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a team setting
Curious and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Comfortable dealing with incomplete information, uncertainty and change
Nice to Have
Exposure to the Bank’s Retail/Business network, products and services.
B. Comm, CPA-CA/CMA/CGA, MBA or equivalent work experience
A varied working career including positions in a number of areas of RBC or another financial institution
Knowledge and understanding of banking products and processes
Authorities, Impact, Risk
Develops and oversees forecasts of FTE/NIE, which play a key part in the establishment of growth targets and resource deployment decisions. Leverages use of finance models to develop key planning line forecasts.
Active supporter of SVP, I&CE, working with LOB and Functional heads to collaboratively grow business results.
Plays a lead role in ensuring any restatement requirements within I&CE are appropriately managed and approved within EPM guidelines.
Ensures financial results have a high level of data integrity to protect shareholder interests and corporate reputation and image.
Manages any EUC requirements re: planning/forecasting models
Ensures financial hierarchy and related systems are accurately maintained.
Adherence to established financial governance and compliance policies. The position ensures the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial information
Insights & Client Engagement comprises approximately $400MM in NIE and over 450 FTE.
