Job Description

What are we looking for?

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience (Diploma or Bachelor’s in Science)
  • Previous experience in food / feed plant, ideally raw material receiving lab
  • Experience in quality assurance laboratory
  • High data entry accuracy and strong attention to detail required (Critical)
  • Strong computer literacy/ Ability to adapt and learn new systems
  • Strong communication skills/ Previous customer service experience or equivalent experience
  • Technically inclined
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Has good sensory capabilities, including color discrimination, odor and texture perception, depth perception
  • Quality and Safety conscious

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unrestricted range of motion
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Standing on a concrete floor, extensive walking
  • Frequent climbing of stairs
  • Lifting (20 kg) maximum
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hair net, hard hat, ear plugs, face mask, safety shoes, and uniform) 
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting
  • Must be able to adapt to temperature and tolerate environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt and chemicals
  • Rotating day, afternoon and possible weekend 8hr shifts

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Perform various laboratory analysis on raw materials according to control plan with compliance to Mars Laboratory Standard
  • Accurately perform analyses, report results and keep records
  • Sample raw materials from bulk trucks, big bags, and totes according to reception procedure
  • Review inbound receiving documents for accuracy, quantities, and food defense and compliance
  • Perform routine laboratory instrument calibrations, verifications, controls, and maintain these records
  • Prepare samples and documentation for external labs
  • Escalate out of spec/non-conformities to lab manager/QFS manager
  • Run receiving operations procedures for unloading bulk materials into silos
  • Customer service with inbound delivery companies
  • Update receiving systems with accurate inventory and immediately report stock discrepancies
  • Collaborate with raw material supply coordinator on schedule, managing priorities and reporting late deliveries
  • Perform inventory of raw materials in silos, bins, and racks (cyclical and period end inventories)
  • Participate in routine ring and proficiency tests
  • Perform area-related equipment first level maintenance
  • Responsible for laboratory cleaning and equipment Perform Housekeeping Checks to ensure compliance to GMP/GHP Perform operational cleaning
  • Any task as delegated by Manager
