Responsibilities

People Management

• Recruit, develop and lead a team of ~35 software engineers to create products and experiences in high-assurance environments.
• Work with an international team to develop and maintain the backlog, developing and enhancing products against the target architecture.
• Work with the project and program management community to forecast and plan across multiple horizons. 

Reliability and Supportability

• Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions. Alerts stakeholders to status and establishes actions to restore system/product/service. Support, troubleshoot, and automate implementation and day to day operations of Azure Sovereign Foundation systems, including maintaining a rotating on-call responsibility.  

Engineering Excellence

• Guides team and leads efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility across solutions and teams. Work closely with security assessment teams to ensure compliance with security standards 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Software engineering experience.
• Experience of leading software engineering teams.
• Capable of technical deep dives into software architecture, service design, and security.
• Ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities.
• Firm sense of accountability, ownership for end-to-end product lifecycle with solid project management and communication skills.
• Expertise in problem solving and analyzing distributed systems and critical production service environments. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
• Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, maintaining online services.
• Experience with multi-threaded/parallel programming

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
• Customer or government screening requirements as needed over time.
• Must be a national of an EU country or the UK.
