Job Description

A career as a Paralegal at National Bank Financial (NBF) means acting as a trusted partner and collaborator with estate planners in the province of Quebec, assisting them in the estate planning process and the drafting of plans. You will report to the Vice-President, Quebec, Wealth Management Solutions.
Your role: 

  • Receive and analyze requests for estate planning investment advisors
  • Support estate planners and collaborate in the drafting of estate plans and other documents
  • Conduct an initial audit and revision of the documents obtained for the preparation of the estate plan (wills, protection mandates, trust deed, etc.) and follow up if necessary
  • Prepare a summary analysis of the legal documents received
  • Produce the estate balance sheet, death taxes and estate cash flow
  • Compile data, participate in the development of monitoring tables ensure the maintenance and indexing of classification systems
  • Manage and organize multiple files with tight deadlines
  • Answer general questions about estate planning and internal service offering processes

Required competencies :

  • Bachelor's degree in law or college diploma in paralegal technology
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in estate planning
  • Strong legal writing skills
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Exceptional organizational skills, autonomy and good ability to synthesize
  • Strong knowledge of computer tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Preferred competencies :

  • Experience in a notary office, trust company or portfolio management firm
  • Good communication skills and ability to popularize complex concepts 
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a multi-stakeholder environment
