Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the AML compliance team and local management in relevant legal vehicles in relation to ad hoc legal queries relating to AML including AML review of new and proposed product offerings, KYC related issued under relevant Money Laundering legislation, SAR reporting and reviewing representations and other legal confirmations sought from Citi by clients and other third parities relating to AML.
  • Advising sanctions compliance teams on complex questions relating to compliance with OFAC, UN, EU and UK sanctions, working with other internal legal teams.
  • Leading on calls with the business, external counsel and external clients, often within urgent timeframes.
  • As needed, working alongside compliance teams and regional management in dealing with responses to regulatory enquiries, legal production orders and submissions to sanctions authorities within the EMEA region.
  • Providing ad hoc support to internal investigations teams and the Ethics Office with regard to internal investigations related to AML, ABC and sanctions matters.
  • Assisting with review of ABC compliance related questions, in particular in relation to the UK Bribery Act and Foreign Corrupt Practice Act.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of AML/ABC/sanctions law or compliance is a pre-requisite for this role, in particular strong subject matter expertise in EU/UK AML requirements and experience of EU/UK sanctions requirements, in particular the recent sanctions in relation to Russia.
  • Agility in processing information and applying understood legal principles to new products or situations.
  • Co-operative, team orientated style.
  • Risk awareness and sound judgment.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to assimilate complex issues and communicate with all levels concisely and clearly.
  • Good judgement and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Commercial awareness and a willingness to challenge and ask questions.

Education:

  • Candidates will be a solicitor or barrister qualified in Ireland or equivalent from another jurisdiction.
