What’s in it for you?   

We are looking for a Report Developer with experience designing reporting systems using Power BI or IBM Cognos technologies to work within the Technology Consulting – Data and Analytics team to join our office in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide.  

As a Senior Report Developer, you will support our clients in defining and implementing a data journey aligned with their strategic objectives. Some of your responsibilities will include: 

• Working closely with delivery and technical leads, data engineers, report developers, testers and end-users ensuring seamless solution delivery outcomes. 
• Applying best practices to the design of visualizations. 
• Applying experience in Power BI or IBM Cognos to effectively communicate business meaning and simplify report development for technical and business users.
• Applying quality assurance best practices to verify reports function optimally and ensuring the feature changes do not break functionality. Thus includes, providing guidance to testing teams with "what to test" and "how to test".
• Keeping stakeholders (internal and external) up to date on progress, problems and associated solutions. 

What we’re looking for  

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.   

• Hands-on experience with design, build and system testing of data visualisation reports using Power BI or Cognos.
• Experience working on Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing or analytics projects 
• Knowledge of data reporting systems, practices and standards.
• SQL skills, including database and report optimisation analysis.
• Knowledge and experience in either traditional SDLC or agile delivery methodologies (or hybrid approaches).
• Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain security clearance – due to the nature of this role, this is essential. 

Ideally, you’ll also have 

• Additional experience or exposure to other database or BI tools (e.g. Tableau, SAS VA)
• Advanced analytics experience including predictive analytics.
• Analytical mind set / someone that challenges assumptions.
• Strong problem solver, someone comfortable to challenge the status quo
• Exceptional communication, documentation and presentation skills
