This role sits within one of the largest transport infrastructure providers in NZ. They have a large $1B programme of work planned over the next several years across multiple and many interesting sub programmes of work in the lower North Island. Given the magnitude of investment and need for accountability and cost control, there is a need for a QS at Intermediate/Senior or Senior Level to support this.

This is an exciting client-side QS role that will be reporting into the Commercial Manager. You are a key interface across several relationships including external QS’s, internal business units, contractors, local authorities and Waka Kotahi.

The Role

The role will see you working with multiple business units & stakeholders whilst supporting the finance and admin team.

You will be focusing on procurement support, financial & commercial management,  risk reporting, cost estimating, budgeting, reviewing, project cash-flow forecasting and control, and monitoring any commercial and financial risks.

Day to day you could be interpreting and evaluating contracts, analysing tender bids by price and non-price, calculating complex project costings, forecasting, holding high level funding discussions, performing in depth analytical work.

Your background

You to date would have had 7 – 10 years of experience worked within the infrastructure, services or engineering sectors either within a contractor or consultancy environment. Also, you are tertiary qualified with a degree in quantity surveying. Within your experience, you should have been exposed to commercial contracts, commercial management and procurement of sub-contractors. It’s a high people facing role, so you need to have strong communication and relationship management skills.

Your cost planning knowledge is a strength as are your strong organisational skills.
