Job Description

The Associate Director, Operational Risk Management supports operational risk management leadership within T&O including risk assessment, trending, analytics and data driven risk insights, reporting and expertise to senior management, enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage operational risks effectively in support of the execution of the T&O Operational Risk programs. In this role you will lead operational risk reviews within Technology & Operations and provide expert feedback on the operational risk impact of major change initiatives, process improvements and transformational projects including event data collection, key risk indicators and risk & control identification and assessment. You will consult with executives and decision makers on the control environment of T&O’s methods, processes, frameworks and products to identify gaps and control enhancements.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead detailed Operational risk and control assessments to identify, measure and analyze key operational risks and provide mitigation strategies where appropriate

  • Leads assessment and analysis work as required on transformational IT program/projects, problematic processes and key initiatives

  • Deliver enhanced risk insights including variances, trends, opportunities and exposures including monitoring of industry trends, regulatory requirements and emerging risks to support risk management

  • Participate in the investigation and analysis of internal & external loss events/incidents to understand root causes, process deficiencies and control failures and ensure appropriate corrective action

  • Support data loss risk management and compliance through monitoring, review and action of T&O employee internet access

  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners

  • Participate in risk management program requirements when required (eg: scenario analysis)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • 10 + years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in operational risk theory, processes and reporting techniques including control structures & design, RCSA, ORE, KRI’s

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills to senior leadership and ability to impact and influence stakeholders and key decision makers.

  • Strong cyber and technical knowledge and proficiency (including application development, IT infrastructure, cloud and emerging technologies, cybersecurity)

Nice-to-have

  • Professional risk and/ or technology designations (eg: CRM, CRISC, CISSP).

  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
