Actuarial R Coder

Salary: £40,000 - £70,000

Are you someone who has extensive experience with R coding, and looking for a new role? Then look no further – this role is for you!

We are looking for a x1 Junior and x1 Senior R coder to join our Actuarial team here at Aviva (hence the gap in the salary bracket).

** This is a Fixed Term Contract till the end of 2024.

A bit about the job:

The role will involve working in a small innovation team to build tools and improve processes in the wider Actuarial area. Tasks can be tailored to the individual, but could include:

• Designing and building Shiny apps

• Giving guidance to novice and intermediate R coders to improve standards across the team

• Improving existing processes, and re-implementing existing Excel processes in R

• Presenting complex data in useful ways

• Developing new techniques for automating actuarial decisions

• Liaising with business users to make sure any output meets business needs

• Training business users in any new tools

No actuarial or financial experience is necessary for this role. In fact, it could provide the ideal opportunity for someone with a different background to learn about the insurance sector.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Experience of writing high quality R code is a must

• The ability to work collaboratively with business users and other coders is also essential

• Familiarity with Shiny is preferable

What you’ll get for this role:

• Starting salary between £40,000 - £70,000 depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications
