Provide support to create, process and close FOI determinations

Your new company
This Federal Government agency are responsible for operating and supporting a national scheme for vulnerable Australians. In line with the recent development of a national Freedom of Information (FOI) team, this agency are looking to fill a number of vacancies responsible for providing timely, objective and strategic advice in response to the Ministers' objectives and obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

Your new role
At the APS4 level, you will provide administrative support to FOI Decision Makers to create, process and close decisions, record information on databases, collate documents and acknowledge emails, prepare reports and correspondences, and run data reports for analysis.

At the APS6 level, you will make FOI determinations in accordance with the FOI Act, working with requests of varying complexity. You will contribute to material for board papers, ministerial briefings and media releases, and mentor and support FOI Action Officers where required. Vacancies are also available with a focus on triaging shared email inboxes to assign work to appropriate team members, responding to phone queries and collating information and data for annual reports.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for these roles, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience working in a records and/or information management role
  • Accreditation in FOI is highly regarded
  • Demonstrate experience in preparing FOI applications and progressing them to determination stage against the FOI Act
  • Sound administrative skills and the ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • In addition, you must be an Australian Citizen, and have or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance and a Disability Screening Check
