Overview

Ingka Investments are a global investment business with forestry assets circa 260k ha in six countries including New Zealand. They prioritise responsible forest management of all their properties to protect the forest, environment, and biodiversity for many generations to come, taking a long-term approach that respects the law, sets a high standard, and remains transparent.

Ingka Investments are at the beginning of an exciting growth phase in New Zealand and a newly created senior leadership role of Country Manager is needed to continue the growth, leading the establishment of a sustainable and profitable forestland management organisation in New Zealand. Current locations in Southland and Hawkes Bay are the foundation of a well-planned and funded New Zealand operation which is part of an international portfolio. In this role you will have the opportunity to act as an entrepreneur by building the local business and the team, whilst you are well supported with the systems and expertise of the international group.

 Position

As the Country Manager you will be responsible for the complete portfolio of all NZ operations by:

  • hands on building and leading the development of Forestry silviculture and afforestation operations
  • taking business responsibility for the country P&L by
    • planning, budgeting and executing operational tasks
    • building effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
    • supervising admin, legal and finance activities
  • supporting cost effective expansion and acquisition plans
  • promoting company culture and values by active stakeholders’ engagement
  • take responsibility for the compliance and risk management
  • support the sustainability agenda of the portfolio
  • market intelligence and analysis

 Skills and Experience

You will have:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Forestry or equivalent work experience
  • Preferable experience of commercial, biological and sustainability aspects of forest management
  • Experience with planning, optimisation and budgeting of forest operations
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar environment with proven record of consistently meeting agreed budgets, goals, and working on business plans
