Position: Fitter-Welder – Senior
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $80,000.00 to $85,000.00 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Ballarat VIC 3350
Our client is seeking an experienced Fitter-Welder to join their workshop. Your role will be to fit and assemble and weld metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate machinery and other equipment.
Tasks required include:
- Follow established procedures and workflows
- Maintain an effective relationship with customers
- Preparing quotes based on drawings and specifications supplied by customers; this may include greenfield or brownfield projects or maintaining/overhauling/improving existing plant and equipment
- Assisting customers to diagnose faults in existing machinery and to offer suggestions to repair, improve performance or suggest alternatives as per customer requirements/limitations
- Perform maintenance (both in workshop and on site) on machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
- Creating drawings and models for jobs based on customer specifications including determination of suitable material types and sequence of operations
- Determination and preparation of appropriate CNC equipment (including presses, rollers, lathes, guillotines etc.) within the workshop to create required parts; preparation includes setting controls, guides and stops both manually and via CNC software settings, and appropriate selection of tooling/dies for parts being created
- Welding assemblies as per drawings; fabricating and fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment and direction of workshop staff to do the same
- Preparation and installation of hydraulic/pneumatic pipes and lines (including bending, cutting, threading)
- Checking of finished work to adhere to ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System in place; this includes use of calibrated measuring devices and following checks and processes
- Site installation of fabricated parts, assemblies and equipment and management of other staff and/or contractors on site.
Requirements:
- Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
- At least 2 years relevant experience
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of typical ERP and Production Management software
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Solidworks or similar.
