With over 50 years’ experience in the scrap metal recycling industry, Action Metal Recyclers have established themselves as one of the leaders in Scrap Metal Recycling across Queensland. We have built our business on understanding what our customers want and providing very competitive prices. Before 2013, we employed 25 staff and operated from only 3 sites in Coopers Plains, Kingston and Toowoomba. Today, Action Metal Recyclers employ over 130 employees and provide services from 10 sites across Queensland including Oxley, Banyo, Townsville, Warwick, Gladstone and the Gold Coast.

We are currently looking for an experienced First Class welder to join our team.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fabricate and repair metal products using various welding techniques

Tasks:

• Studying specifications
• Selecting, preparing the steel
• Cleaning the metal to make sure that there is no oil or dirt or water
• Performing different welding positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame-cutting torches and metal cutting machines
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Examining welds for the width of bead, penetration and precision
• Smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications: 

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Unqualified candidates with proven prior experience in Fabrication and welding will also be considered)

Experience:

• At least 2 years of relevant experience is required
• Previous experience in the mining industry or large scale operations would be a benefit
• Forklift licence would be advantageous

Skills:

• Able to work at heights from time to time.
• Physically fit for the demands of the role.
• Ability to work regular overtime when required.
• Gouging and blending to standards
• Maintaining a clean and safe work culture and environment.
• Excellent at reading and interrupting engineering drawings
• Weld with Flux core and solid wires and welding multi-run passes.
• Overhead crane operation knowledge

• Able to shift gears in a high paced environment and respond quickly to the requirements of production.

SALARY:

• $63,000 - $69,500 + Super per annum
