Job Description

Microsoft’s Finance Operations is seeking a highly motivated and confident finance manager to join our record to report team.  In this role, you will focus on governing accounting activities while proactively working towards unique solutions and helping others succeed.  Our team partners across the world with multiple teams to support Microsoft’s financials and close process.

 

The ideal individual will have a strong accounting background with a passion for transformation.  Cross group collaboration, awareness of others and adhering to policy and standards are key to success in addition to concentrating on accuracy, compliance, and risk management.

Responsibilities

 

Accounting Systems

  • Creates, reviews, and updates standard accounting systems such as general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable, fixed assets, treasury, supply chain, or revenue. Assists in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track, and report accounting transactions. Verifies effective operations with business partners that help with end-to-end processing, payments, accounting, and related finance controls.

Enablement/Process Improvement

  • Implements process improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

 

Accounting Execution

  • Prepares and reviews accounting records in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Interprets reports and records for managers/stakeholders. Provides support and troubleshooting to users. Investigates and resolves business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies. Implements accounting execution process improvements

Vendor Governance

  • Helps resolve problems, conflicts, or questions by acting as an escalation point for vendors conducting basic functions. Conducts day-to-day governance of vendors by reviewing their output/KPIs/metrics. Governs metrics and service level agreements per the business process outsourcing model to ensure accuracy and compliance. Adheres to policy and standards while concentrating on accuracy, compliance, and risk management.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience.

 Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years of accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience.
  • Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Intercompany experience
  • SAP experience
  • Microsoft Suite experience 
  • Familiarity with large set data
