Job Description

Based in Rotorua, you will be responsible for the delivery of Mercury Wells Management Plan and all downhole measurement programmes over well assets owned by both Mercury and our joint venture partners. Your role will ensure that our well assets are appropriately maintained, regularly monitored and correctly documented to deliver our safety, risk, compliance and fuel supply requirements.

This role will offer you diversity with many projects and initiatives to be involved with that will help you with your continued growth and development. The successful candidate will join a highly-skilled technical resources team, providing ongoing engineering support for well operations and monitoring well integrity, interacting with Geoscientists, Geologists, Reservoir Engineers, and many different Mercury departments and stakeholders. You'll gain exposure to different generation sites, managing contractors through job planning and execution, incident management, risk assessments, management of change, and budget management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure Well Assets are safe to operate by monitoring their condition, regulatory compliance, and consent requirements.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary risk assessments to stablish monitoring and operational controls.
  • Plan and schedule routine and non-routine well activities (largely downhole wireline / slickline surveys and wellhead operations), including the preparation of work packs, safety risk analysis and organising operating orders for the work.
  • Supervise planned work at the site to ensure that all Health & Safety controls are in place, contractors are competent and work procedures are followed.
  • Track budgeted expenditures for reservoir monitoring and well compliance activities and provide monthly forecast to the budget owners.

We are looking for:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) with experience in previous roles similar to this, such as Well Services Engineer, Project Manager or similar positions.
  • Experience in an operational environment of heavy industry or well services sector
  • Experience in energy generation an advantage but not necessary

At Mercury, you are offered:

  • Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
  • Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and/or from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world
  • $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
  • End of journey facilities - Bike to work, run at lunchtime, or head to the local gym with Mercury provided storage facilities and showers
  • Focus on health and wellbeing including up to $100 towards an annual health check
  • Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
