Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2022

The UBC Faculty of Dentistry is recruiting outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Oral Biological & Medical Sciences or Oral Health Science (based on preference and discipline matching) to conduct cutting-edge research in the areas of cell, developmental biology, tissue regeneration, cell signaling, gene regulation, computational modeling and human disorders using genetic and genomic approaches. This individual will lead a new emerging research focus theme of the Faculty of Dentistry in "Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders, CODED". The vision is to develop an inter- and multi-disciplinary integrated UBC research cluster providing a focused forum for the diagnosis, gene discovery, development of novel therapeutics, treatment of disorders and syndromes of the craniofacial, oral complex and dentition while providing student, resident and faculty training, and education of the community on a nation and global platform. CODED will foster and promote basic science, translational and clinical research based on partnerships among UBC Faculties , BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital and various other national healthcare facilities. Through the CODED cluster, the UBC community will advance scholarship, discoveries, training and education, community outreach and philanthropy for the benefit of British Columbians, Canadians, and others around the world. This novel research UBC cluster will be the first of its kind in British Columbia, proving a unique niche for high visibility and future funding on a national and global stage.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in developmental biology, genetics, stem cell biology, or molecular biology. Candidates with both a Ph.D. and either a D.D.S. or D.M.D. or M.D. degree are highly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must have a strong record of high-quality research, significant publication record in their field, administrative experience and documented leadership skills to organize and manage teams. Candidates with existing federal funded research grants or other independent foundation support are preferred and strongly encouraged to apply.
