The College has an ambitious and widely encompassing programme to embed a culture of diversity and inclusion within its professional leadership, the wider profession and the staff body. We are currently halfway through delivery of our goals published in 2021 in our Working for Change reports. You will play a key role in EDI across the College and lead the implementation of our work across the breadth of EDI and paediatrics. You will champion our commitment to celebrate diversity, challenge inequality, and build an inclusive environment for all. You will lead in overseeing and delivering our cross College EDI activity ensuring we achieve the pledges, recommendations and actions we have made to our members. Harnessing the EDI Staff Working Group and EDI Member Reference Group will be critical in achieving this and you will be working closely alongside the Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee cross College delivery of the key actions and areas of work within the Working for Change EDI action plan using an analytical and methodical approach to problem solving 2. Lead EDI initiatives and projects including reciprocal mentoring, equality impact assessment and the EDI session at RCPCH Annual Conference 3. Producethe annual external report and data snapshot on the Colleges EDI activity using discretion in identifying and proposing solutions to complex issues 4. Lead the College response to EDI related member enquiries and external stakeholder reports to support the wider profession to embed and develop EDI initiatives 5. Provide Secretariat responsibility for EDI Member Reference Group, EDI Oversight Group and EDI Staff Working Group 6. Work closely with the various internal and external staff engagement groups to establish, maintain and develop strong working relationships and regular communication with key stakeholders e.g. Employee Forum 7. Maintain a good working knowledge of current equality, diversity and inclusion best practice, keeping up to date with recent relevant publications from external stakeholders like the General Medical Council, British Medical Association and members of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and propose ways for any key learnings to be implemented into RCPCH workings 8. Prepare and deliver presentations and write board level papers to enable communication progress on EDI to all levels of the College and monitoring of project progress via the Colleges portfolio board reporting structure 9. Support strategic planning for EDI activity across the College proposing opportunities for process improvements and developing the delivery of new processes

Essential skills

Essential • Suitable qualification at A Level or equivalent • Proven experience of working on equality, diversity and inclusion • Proven ability to develop, lead and manage high profile projects to time and on budget using project management methodology Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to motivate, influence and gain the support of others and to have effective collaborative working relationships • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to set out and discuss complex issues clearly for a wide audience and to give presentations as required in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at all levels. • Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage own workload and taking responsibility for achieving results • Experience of minute taking and preparation of board level papers for meetings • Experience of working with and influencing a wide range of people at all levels of an organisation and strong experience of working with a variety of teams across an organisation. • An ability to work independently and capable of taking personal responsibility for own projects • Excellent proven organisational skills and an ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work paying careful attention to detail and ability to following standard procedures and ways of working • Ability to prioritise to ensure delivery of multiple objectives within short time frames to high standards and multiple deadlines. • Well-developed experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Explorer, Outlook and PowerPoint

Desirable skills

Desirable • Previous experience of working for a membership body or health organisation.
