Job Description

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

Network Maintenance & Administration (35%)

 

  • Oversee the optimal management (including policies and procedures) and maintenance of network equipment and services within the scope of the Network. This includes but is not limited to E-mail services; File and Print services); Internet services; all data communications (LAN, WAN and remote access); Network Security; Server Hardware and Operating Systems, Network appliances, routers, core switches; Data Centre environments, etc.
  • Oversee all network and server technology additions and enhancements.
  • Manage and administer the evolving network server environment implementing the appropriate network management technology that will provide meaningful metrics on utilization of system resources.
  • Develop, implement and manage Network and data security

 

Financial Management (20%)

 

  • Proactively manage the budgets of the Corporate Network Management team to meet accepted targets.
  • Proactively manage the operating and capital budgets of the Corporate Network Management team to meet accepted targets.
  • Negotiate and administer service contracts and invoices related to the Network with consultants/contractors and service suppliers.
  • Lead and participate with peers in developing and implementing IS/IT initiatives that support corporate objectives of cost reduction, revenue generation and/or productivity process improvement.

 

Project Management (30%)

 

  • Act as project manager for network projects using industry standard project management practices (pmbok) while adhering to Expertech service offering standards (e.g., prioritization process, feasibility studies, etc.)
  • Oversee assigned projects, process and technology developments within the Corporate Network Management and Security team.
  • Provide project management to Network initiatives using standard project management techniques such as business case (ROI), milestone objectives and the effective management of project scope.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual IT operations plan detailing the strategic direction, technology and project requirements and budgetary allocations to effectively manage, enhance or augment systems and technology.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

 

Educational Level Required: 

 

  • College diploma, University Degree or equivalent
  • Experience in computer science or business 

 

Job-Specific Certifications:

Years of Experience Required:

 

  • 3 – 5 + years related experience across IS, IT, Network
  • Management, Project Management

 

Specific Experience:

 

  •  
  • 1-2 years related experience in network management.
  • Technical expertise in the administration of Microsoft Networks and their components and peripherals (particularly Windows, Linux, Exchange, Proxy, Cluster, Sharepoint, Symantec, Nutanix, CheckPoint).
  • Solid understanding of the design, configuration and administration of LAN/WAN routers, switches and hubs (particularly Cisco / CheckPoint products) and network protocols (particularly TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP).
  • Solid understanding of network security and protection technologies (e.g.: intrusion detection, firewalls, anti-virus, etc.).
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
