Job Description

  • Opportunity for an in-house Employment law/ER specialist
  • Varied, complex and interesting work
  • Proactively ensure we are a best practice employer
  • Wellington based role

NZ Post is part of New Zealand's key mail and parcel delivery infrastructure. Around since 1840, we are an iconic organisation and part of the fabric of Aotearoa. With values founded on caring and teamwork we're collectively driven by the power of our people and our focus on making sure we bring the best to our customers and communities and deliver what New Zealanders care about.

The opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for the position of Employment Relations Specialist, to join our growing in-house Employment Relations team. The team provides specialist advice and support for employment relations processes across the business and we've created this additional role to focus particularly on supporting formal processes (disciplinary, performance management, change processes), and the resolution of employment relationship issues.

You'll report to our Employment Relations Lead and join our wider People Team, who are collectively focussed on making NZ Post a place where people are valued, belong and thrive.

So, what will I be doing?

You'll be involved in a real mix of work: providing day to day advice, resolving personal grievances, legal research, through to working on projects with a future strategic nature - think union engagement, collective agreement negotiations, sharing legal and risk-management expertise, looking at upcoming legislative changes and how they will affect us - meaning no two days will be the same.

There's plenty of opportunity to get stuck in to the novel and interesting issues that an organisation of our size and complexity encounters.

A bit about you

We need an experienced person to join the team, ideally with a couple of years' experience providing employment law advice and support in a legal firm or in-house legal team.  A background supporting an evolving, complex, unionised and commercially driven organisation is preferred.

Wherever you're coming from, you will thrive in a change environment and enjoy jumping in and out of your comfort zone, be inquisitive, proactive and most of all a collaborative specialist with the ability to build constructive relationships across our business.

We would love someone with positive energy to support the business, someone who has a naturally optimistic outlook, and someone who can simply make things happen.

Interested? Come and join the whanau!

We believe our team embodies the values of our business and are working to make NZ Post competitive, commercial and relevant for the future. If you're looking to make a valuable contribution and want to join an inclusive and engaged team of experts, then we would love to hear from you.

If you have the skills and experience we are looking for, we invite you to review the Job Description and apply online through www.jobs.nzpost.co.nz.

For further information, contact Olivia Jacobs (Talent Acquisition Specialist) on 027 604 6834 or olivia.jacobs@nzpost.co.nz

Applications for this role close on 1 February 2022. Please note that we may review applications on a rolling basis.

NZ Post has adopted a goal of a fully vaccinated workplace. All applicants will also be required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in New Zealand. Appointees will be subject to a security and credit check and may be required to undertake a drug test.

There's something really special about being part of the team here at NZ Post - Tukurau Aotearoa, who we are and what we stand for is grounded in our values

We are proud to be Rainbow Tick certified and recognise the diversity and uniqueness of our workforce and reaffirm our commitment to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
