Job Description

Direct report to the EMEA VAT Compliance Manager

The role of EMEA VAT Compliance Supervisor presents an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced team of indirect tax professionals managing VAT and related compliance on multiple deliverables for over 85 entities across Europe, Middle East and Africa. 

The successful candidate will possess an ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks during peak periods in the VAT compliance calendar, possess excellent written and oral communication and is eager to develop their VAT knowledge and soft skills.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing of all VAT and related deliverables (e.g. Intrastat, EC Sales Lists etc.) .
  • Ensure timely payment/recovery of the VAT payables/receivables.
  • Manage and coordinate a high volume of communication from various markets, external business partners and stakeholders.
  • Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the VAT compliance processes and the quality of the source data.
  • Coordinate with VAT GL to resolve balance sheet reconciling items.
  • Adhere to strict administrative requirements and ensure all information is maintained in a consistent and standardized format.
  • Assist with VAT compliance related functions (e.g. power of attorney, registrations etc.).
  • Assist with refund claims under EC 8th and 13th Directives as appropriate.
  • Assist with VAT inspections and audits, including gathering information and responding to information requests.
  • Assist in various VAT and related projects.

Profile:

  • Academic background (bachelor degree) with accounting expertise.
  • 3 years of experience in VAT compliance and preferably also experience with co-sourcing/outsourcing processes.
  • Experience with VAT and regulatory compliance processes in Europe or EMEA.
  • Understanding of internal control processes in a large corporate environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (with strong emphasis on Excel); other software programs (Alteryx, Power-BI) an advantage.
  • Appreciation of complex (non-integrated) business system interactions and control issues arising
  • Fluent in English, additional languages an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a process driven, structured, result-orientated capacity and possess strong analytical capabilities.
