Job Description
Direct the implementation of RBC’s Business Continuity Management Monitoring and QA Program and Practices
Contribute to and execute on the vision, strategy and operating model for business continuity management
Direct the implementation of the business continuity management monitoring and QA programs and practices to ensure accurate view of Operational Risk Profile
Develop and manage the monitoring and QA program, covering all key BCM program requirements for effective adherence to BCM policies, standards and guidelines and appropriate controls are in place. Monitor and oversee the remediation of any issues for adequate risk mitigation.
Support implementation of ORM initiatives (e.g.: Internal Control Management Policy) and monitor for adherence to requirements, escalating concerns where required
Identify trends and direct research into areas of perceived elevated or emerging operational risk
Keeps abreast of organizational, regulatory, strategic, financial and/or operational changes and environmental trends impacting business continuity risk management practices (participate in various forums, working groups, and committees, as required
Provide Business Continuity Risk advice and monitor key & emerging risks
Provide BCM risk mitigation strategies and advise senior management and executives in understanding and managing business continuity risk
Champion behaviours that embed a strong risk management culture across 1st & 2nd LOD, including strong awareness of BCM practices
Provide oversight on the design and effectiveness of the internal control environment
Actively support 1LOD in establishing operational risk appetite that aligns with their with stated strategic objectives
Leverage operational risk and business continuity risk data and analysis to provide management with insights to support decision-making
Conduct Independent reviews to provide a perspective to 1st Line of Defense on emerging risks and trends through scenario analysis
Bring 1st Line of Defense insights from external sources such as ORX, Industry Events, Industry Best practices
Engage in external committees, forums and associations specializing in BCM
Enable regulatory change, Operational Risk Governance, & reporting
Support Management and BCM CoG to respond to information requests by regulators, supervisors, and statutory bodies (as required)
Monitor and analyze the design and operational effectiveness of a platform’s control environment
Report business continuity risk-related reporting and insights, and partner with the business to enhance reporting where required, to support executive management to build a perspective on operational risks and emerging trends
Develop an story board to provide a profile of operational risk (i.e., business continuity risk), leveraging risk dashboards, scorecards, metrics and other information sources
Job Summary
The Director, Business Continuity Monitoring and Quality Assurance will be responsible for the Business Continuity Program and achieving best-in-class global resiliency practices. You will be key in providing advice, oversight and challenge to business partners to ensure effective adoption of Program requirements.
