What is the opportunity?
In this role, you will be a member of the Banking and Payments Senior Management Team and will help to achieve business, operational and financial objectives of retail products such as debit cards, drafts, cheques and numerous service fee such as NSF and Stop Payment. You will be responsible for providing business and client lens to effectively manage regulatory, compliance and fraud risks through timely review and management of policies and risk documents as well as successful execution of projects to ensure products are in compliance as appropriate industry rules, regulations, by-laws and policies evolve. The day-to-day responsibilities include:
- people management (two direct reports)
- P&L management and product oversight for Payment products (e.g. debit cards, cheques, chargeback etc.)
- Ongoing support to key partners to ensure client escalations are appropriately addressed
- Designing, maintaining and monitoring of product reporting and dashboard to drive business results
- Develop and execute on product strategy and transformative initiatives, as appropriate.
What will you do?
- Lead the development and implementation of product strategies for debit cards and paper payment products
- Direct strategic investments in technology, marketing and products, ensuring that the investment meets both financial hurdles, product profitability targets, client experience, strategic priorities and key business requirements for all mandated products
- Manage P&L and ensure key performance metrics are developed and maintained
- Manage 3rd party relationships in partnership with other Lines of Business
- Participate in selection of new or existing external vendors
- Represent RBC’s interest at external network forums
- Own the ongoing management of network, vendor and supplier relationships
- Foster and develop high performing talent and support the needs of employees
- Lead the execution of strategic projects as assigned
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- University degree (preference in business, finance, economics, law, accounting)
- Proven ability to effectively partner and collaborate within a complex & matrix environment while driving results
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead complex programs across time horizons, with a proven track record to deliver
- Strong business and financial acumen and analytical based problem solving
- Professional oral and written presentation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Nice-to-have
- Retail payments product experience, including P&L management
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the payments industry, compliance practices, and legal and regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge of RBC businesses, operations, technology and risk management
- Product Strategy Development experience – Understand the ‘why’, including designing from a customer centric experience throughout the customer decision journey
- Product Development – Translate the ‘Vision’ into ‘Reality’, define MVPs, OKRs, build, validate and test strategy and plan Go-To-Market launch
- Previous success leading teams and developing talent
