What is the opportunity?

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will join a team of highly motivated individuals that are working to rethink operations by transforming the current process to the Next Generation Operating Model in DevOps Services. RBC creates more value through innovation and technology, and DevOps services is the core enabler for the RBC technology advantage.

You will start supporting development teams on DevOps toolset with any development issue they may have while collaborating very closely with the SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team to eliminate operational toil and taking operations and tools resiliency to the next level.

What will you do?

Work with developers to resolve their technical issues working with DevOps pipeline. Primary focus will be on RBC’s in-house developed pipeline portal.  You will be directly  involved as a secondary technical support on integration with source code and artifact management, build and deploy tools, security scanning and collaboration tools.

Create and documentation code snippets for different languages that being supported by DevOps pipeline to help developers interacting and integrating with the pipeline

Learn new programing languages to be able helping developers using the pipeline

Help reducing tickets related to developers knowledge gap related to using the pipeline

Enhance your skills in scripting automation to help eliminate both tedious and manual work and operational toil

Process refinement and creation

60% technical support and 40% building automation  

Create self-healing applications/pipelines for Private (PCF/Openshift) and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure)

Design and build innovative solutions in using DevOps Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, Nexus, Checkmarx and UrbanCode Deploy

Solve complex DevOps technical problems

Partner with project teams and provide ‘best-fit’ solutions 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Minimum 10 years development experience with variety of programing languages

Hands-on experience working, and supporting DevOps pipeline tool set like Github, IBM Urbancode deploy, Jenkins

Hands-on working experience with Java, C#, Python, Node.JS, Angular  

Minimum 3 years using github, Jenkins and IBM Urbancode deploy

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong team collaborator

Automation and scripting experience—Ansible playbook creation an asset

Comfortable working in a flexible work environment with the ability to pivot from one task to the next

A learning and creative mindset which is open to change

Track record of driving critical initiatives

Provide technical consultation to more junior members of the team

Nice-to-have

Proven having critical thinking skills or driving critical initiatives

Hands on experience working with any of the following tools:

Nexus repo, Nexus IQ, Artifactory, Checkmarx, Jira, Confluence, HP ALM suites

Working experience any fast-paced environment

Experience working in agile environment

Working experience using Elasticsearch and Kibana—ELK stack

Experience configuring and using monitoring and alerting tools—Dynatrace and PagerDuty

Technical documentation experience
