SCOPE

Developer will be part of the Transportation team who support several legacy applications for Canada post. Attend regular agile ceremonies and provide support and small enhancement request for the applications.

DUTIES

•    Provide application support and maintenance including daily checks, minor fixes or changes and minor application upgrades / patches (as well as documentation management) for COTS and custom applications

•    Provide technical and functional guidance

•    Resolve moderate to complex problems

•    As part of systems testing and implementation, support service readiness and acceptance efforts

•    Support the Service / Help Desk in day-to-day end-user assistance and event management, including incident troubleshooting and resolution

•    Monitor performance of assigned applications, identifying bottlenecks, and working to remove them

•    Develop documents and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards, including working on development projects;

•    Support testing

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

Must Have’s:

•  A very good understanding of OOP, design patterns, Android and enterprise in mobile application integration

•  A very good understanding of Android Design Patterns and material design

•  Strong Java programming skills in many of the following: UI design, Material Design for Android, Wireframes, Android Native and Hybrid approaches like Xamarin

•  Experience working with and integrating into backend technologies (cellular, Wi-Fi, queues, web servers, databases)

•  Experience with mobile analytics, database Design, Development and Performance Optimization

•  3+ years’ Mobile / Wireless Technology experience especially with devices running Android

•  3+ years’ experience with Java

•  3+ years’ experience using relational databases (Oracle DB, MySQL, MS SQL Server)

•  Experience with TeamCity/Jenkins/Git (Nice)

•  Experience using build tools (Gradle, Maven) (Nice)

•  5+ years’ experience in a IT environment with broad knowledge of business and technical environment 

Nice to have’s:

Demonstrated deployments of enterprise or consumer-facing mobile software systems using industry standard environments including Android native and Hybrid apps

•  Responsive design principles

•  Unit test frameworks

•  Relational database knowledge, preferably using Oracle
