What is the opportunity?
We’re looking for a Design Operations Specialist to join RBC Venture’s Strategic Design (SD). SD conducts consumer research and brings user-centered design best practices and methods to create extraordinary user experiences transforming the way Canadians experience RBC.
The Design Operations Specialist enables SD teams to be successful through exceptional team operational management skills. They assist with managing the pipeline of work across SD teams, and enjoy taking ownership and guiding team members through the entire project/program lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can lead and participate in meetings with various levels of stakeholders. They are well organized, self-directed, creative, and thrive in fast-moving organizations.
The ideal candidate has a proven record of leading highly-complex projects/programs and driving team efficiencies and improved productivity.
What will you do?
People experience
Work effectively with the SD Design Operations Leader to execute and launch people experience programs (e.g., onboarding, offboarding, recognition, learning and development programs, etc.)
Test and refine people programs in order to drive high engagement, improved productivity, and employee satisfaction
Be the trusty go-to person team members can lean on to share their suggestions and questions
Resource and Business Process Management
Manage and refine the SD Recruiting and Hiring Process in partnership with SD Leaders and the Ventures Recruiting, from the candidate pipeline to interviewing and case challenges to offer presentment and onboarding
Manage and refine the Project Pipeline Process for a SD Centre of Excellence, from Intake and briefing through execution and post-mortems
Manage selected projects and programs through all phases of the project lifecycle, including project timelines, milestone tracking, and production budgets
General Operations and Administration
Identify and improve team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management, finance tracking, etc.
Collaborate with Ventures Operations team on program/project reporting, best practice sharing, and strategic initiative project tracking
Advise SD Managers and Leaders with key insights informing program/project decision-making, resource allocations, and productivity improvements
What do you need to succeed?
Must-haves:
3+ years of experience working in design operations, studio management, or design program management
Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, design, business management, or a related field or the equivalent work experience
Experience working with small to midsize design teams, helping designers adopt well-managed business processes and best practices
Experience managing small- to mid-sized projects through the entire project lifecycle, from ideation, initiation, implementation to optimization
A strong passion for creating engaging programs that resonate on an emotional level with team members
Nice-to-haves:
Experience and success working in corporate environments
Knowledge and/or experience in the Agile methodology
Advanced degree in marketing, communications, HR, or a related field
