Job Description
General Summary: Deliver steel building products to branch/customer sites.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- drive defensively and handle hazardous road conditions.
- load goods onto the truck either by hand, or by using a forklift or other lifting equipment.
- make sure loads are correctly placed and secured to avoid damage to the truck or other vehicles or goods.
- carry out basic vehicle maintenance and notify office staff for vehicle service requirements. Keep vehicle cabin tidy and clean.
- drive vehicle to customer's building site or Mitchell Branch Office and unload goods in a safe manner.
- Ensure goods are unloaded/placed in correct location as per customer's delivery instructions.
- Ensure Site Inductions and Safety Requirements are complied with.
- carry out administrative duties, such as checking items against the inventory, recording damage,
- maintain a work diary with details of trips.
- plan the shortest delivery route and drive the vehicle to the correct destination
- use a two-way radio, or other electronic device (not whilst driving), to keep in contact with the Fyshwick and Mitchell Offices.
- Complete delivery/office paperwork.
- Provide customer service and advice.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs.
- Make telephone calls to update customers on delivery times and confirm site access requirements.
REPORTING:
Reports directly to the Fyshwick Deliveries Supervisor/Company Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Mandatory)
- Valid Heavy Combination Vehicle (HC) Driver License with at least 6 years proven driving experience,
- Valid ACT O.H. & S Certificate,
- Vehicle Loading Crane operators licence (CV)
- Slewing Mobile Crane capacity up to 20T operators licence (C2)
- Valid Forklift License (LF)
- Valid Dogging License (DG)
- Asbestos Awareness Certificate (desirable)
- Minimum 2 contactable referees
Personal Requirements:
- trustworthy, punctual and reliable
- able to navigate to new addresses/suburbs
- good communication skills and some mathematical ability
- able to cope with the physical demands of the job
- safe driving skills.
- safety-conscious at all times
Must possess experience in the Canberra Residential &/ Commercial Building sector. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers. Experienced in customer service, direct contact with people.
