A global pioneer in AI powered technology has an opportunity for a mid-level Data Scientist to join their Toronto office.  

They're looking for experienced machine learning practitioners and python programmers with a background in software engineering and in at least one of the following fields: 

• Signal processing
• Geo-spatial data processing
• Natural Language processing
• Social network analysis
• Recommender system
• Adaptive experimentation techniques

The Role

• You will help the team to improve upon current methods and models. With a practical mindset, you will bring these models into a production environment. 
• Your software development experience will allow you to closely collaborate with our Engineering team to improve our models and push them through our release process.
• You will work with big data (GPS fixes and sensor data) from hundreds of thousands of users.
• You will train algorithms related to activity detection (type of transports, home/work location, etc.) and human behaviour (commuting, sporting, shopping, etc.).
• You will create machine learning pipelines capable of extracting insights from social interactions between users on our platforms
• You will design context-aware recommender systems

 Background 

• You have a master's degree or PhD in computer science or a related field.
• You are fluent in Python programming and its machine learning stack
• You are an expert in machine learning and data modelling.
• You have knowledge/experience with software engineering and deployment to production
• You have experience with at least one of the fields listed above.
• You possess a deep understanding of clustering, manifold learning and predictive modelling techniques.
• You can use big data tools such as Spark for development
• You can work independently and take matters into your own hands.
