Microsoft’s People Analytics team, HRBI, is seeking a Data & Applied Scientist with experience leveraging natural language processing (NLP) techniques to create scalable, impactful insights from unstructured data. A well-qualified candidate is highly technical and possesses the patience and persistence needed to see complex problems through to resolution.

Location: Redmond, WA preferred. Open to candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone. 

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve end-to-end NLP-based pipelines and solutions that deliver insights at scale from unstructured text data.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the analysis of unstructured data, partnering with others to apply and leverage this skillset to guide data-driven decision making.
• Partner with HR analysts, clients, platform developers, product teams, and researchers to understand needs and opportunities, and design and build various deep learning NLP models for people analytics at scale.
• Occasionally support high priority ad hoc requests from company and HR leadership.
• Passion for innovation and discovering new insights into people analytics leveraging advanced NLP techniques.
• Self-directed learner in the ever-advancing space of text analytics, team player, and strong collaboration skills

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Masters in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics (focus on NLP preferred) AND 3+ years of hands-on experience with NLP-focused machine learning and deep learning techniques
• Proficiency in Python with 2+ years of experience in at least one of deep learning frameworks, e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• 3+ years of experience in applying Machine Learning, Deep learning, Sequence Models, Transfer Learning, and Transformers (BERT, etc.) on large volume of text data
• 1+ years of experience in Machine Learning Operation (MLOps) and productionization of ML systems

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics (focus on NLP preferred)
• SQL experience
• Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning Studio and Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (CNTK)
