Contract: Permanent, Full-time 

Hours of work: Tuesday to Saturday 8.00am - 4:30pm 

Location: SPCA Auckland Centre (based in Mangere) 

About the role 

We are looking for a friendly, positive and organised person to lead our busy hospital reception team, who are responsible for dealing with all incoming animals to the Centre - from cats, dogs, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs and more!

As the Customer Service Team Leader – Hospital you will be working alongside the team on the reception desk, ensuring that ‘best practice’ customer service is being delivered to all visitors to our centre, and everyone is treated with empathy, understanding and patience. This role and team are pivotal to exposing our customers to a positive experience when coming into the SPCA Auckland Hospital and represent SPCA and its values when assisting customers and animals brought into the hospital. 

Key duties of the role would include: 

· Administration support for the hospital team, for example the cost effective and efficient management of operational costs, including supplies and other budgetary items. 

· Staff management, including recruitment, training & development, performance management, payroll and rostering. 

· Customer service, including phone enquiries and face to face interaction, ensuring every interaction is as a positive one.

· Ensuring compliance with SPCA animal care policies, procedures and practices, within allocated resources.

· Providing leadership and guidance with a strong solution focussed approach to motivate and mentor the reception team.

What we need from you 

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

· Leadership experience, ideally in a customer service environment.

· Customer service experience, with demonstrable communication and customer service skills. 

· Excellent computer skills, including the use of MS Office applications and database management. 

· Experience with cash handling and invoicing.

· An understanding of animal welfare, ideally in a shelter environment (Animal handling experience or qualification preferred). 

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent administration and organisation skills 

· A flexible approach to the hours of work, and be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads, and cover/swap shifts as required 

· Ability to manage stress and handle emotional situations while retaining empathy, and a smile. 

· Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and must have a love for working with both people and animals.
