What you will do

The Network Enabled Army Programme is a long term (up to 12 years), large scale, high risk programme, which will have transformational change outcomes for supporting NZDF operations.

As a highly valued and integral part of the Army transformation team in Army General Staff, the Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Effective administration and coordination of team activities;
  • Documentation management and keeping records updated;
  • Media and communication preparation and distribution;
  • Engaging with Defence Public Affairs around messaging and communications;
  • Providing a point of contact for all customer queries and managing the shared inbox for the team; and
  • Coordinating events: venue booking and set up, coordinating people and resources.

The primary focus of this role is coordinating and disseminating change management information and meaningful messaging to the wider organisation to in order to improve awareness, understanding and acceptance of new changes taking place.

What we need

Along with considerable administrative and coordination experience effectively supporting your team in daily business activities and events, you will have:

  • Confident and pro-active communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop, foster and maintain positive working relationships;
  • Highly effective organisational and time management skills;
  • Tech savviness: MS Office Suite, creating communications, bulletins and using various communications platforms, media outlets and social media platforms;
  • An absolute commitment to the ‘bigger picture' and obtaining the best results for the team and customer; and
  • An ability to provide support with complex stakeholder arrangements at executive level.

Who we are

Army General Staff (Army GS) provides support to the Chief of Army (CA) to raise, train and sustain the NZ Army. The Army GS is a strategy lead organisation that is agile, innovative and decisive. The Army GS purpose is to:

  • Command, lead and manage Army personnel,
  • Develop, implement and monitor strategy,
  • Manage the effort required from DHR, Capability, DLC, NZDF Shared Services and Contracted Services to deliver against Army's strategy,
  • Manage resources allocated to Army efficiently and effectively, along with fostering a culture based on Army's ethos and values.

The Network Enabled Army Programme is a long term (up to 12 years), large scale, high risk programme, which will have transformational outcomes for supporting NZDF operations. The Programme will introduce into service a range of new and exciting capabilities.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
