Air Canada, ranked among the top five most attractive companies to work for in Canada, is seeking a Contract Manager within the Strategic Procurement group, who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters.
Strategic Procurement (SP) is comprised of several Category Management teams and a Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE). The successful candidate will play a key role as a Contract Manager supporting Information Technology (IT) engagements.
Given the cross-functional nature of IT procurement at Air Canada, this opportunity will provide interaction and collaboration with internal stakeholders in many parts of the organization.
The successful candidate will combine his/her advanced understanding of commercial contracts and collaborate with a number of support functions (e.g. Legal, Tax and Insurance departments) to obtain the best value for the airline and develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Responsibilities
The Contract Manager - Strategic Procurement (IT) will review agreements related to essential IT and consulting services, systems and infrastructure in a fast paced and stimulating environment.
In this role, responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing agreements, conducting contractual and commercial negotiations, and contributing to the overall improvement of the contract workflow and procurement practices at Air Canada.
In greater detail, key areas of responsibility include the following:
Drafting and reviewing agreements
Draft or review agreements and other binding documents (e.g. amendments, assignment letters, supplier notifications, non disclosure agreements)
Add Data Protection Agreements to new or existing contracts, where required
Ensure documents are reviewed and signed off by all required AC support functions
Summarize and explain outstanding risks to senior internal stakeholders to obtain approvals
Enter and manage all documents in Ariba from contract inception to execution
Conducting contractual and commercial negotiations
Align with internal stakeholders and SP leadership team to determine negotiation strategy
Lead contractual and commercial negotiations with suppliers
Act as the single point of contact for suppliers throughout the negotiations
Escalate as needed for timely resolution of outstanding items
Contributing to process improvement
Participate in the establishment of best-in-class methods to reduce contract cycle time
Develop and maintain an understanding of emerging legal and contractual requirements
Maintain contract templates up to date
Monitor and recommend supplier consolidation opportunities
Ensure Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) is in place post-execution
Act as an ambassador for SP and Air Canada
Further develop relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
Effectively communicate and promote the successes of SP
Actively engage in learning Air Canada’s business processes
Qualifications
University degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. legal, paralegal, commerce) or significant experience in contract administration and/or management
Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills
Collaborative nature with ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders and support functions
Ability to work effectively under short deadlines and in high-pressure situations
Excellent work ethic, diligence and time management skills
Excellent communication skills, oral and written
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint)
Familiarity with Ariba, an asset
Due to the confidential nature of the work, a high degree of professionalism and discretion is required. Flexibility with work hours and occasional travel may also be necessary.
