Job Description

We're looking for a writer who loves crafting deceptively simple experiences and stories that feel effortless because you’ve sweated every detail and distilled every idea down to its purest, simplest form. You know the power of great information hierarchy and clear language. You can speak to how carefully crafted UX flows can transform the customer journey from confusing to intuitive. Informing and evolving that journey with insights from research and data is second nature to you.

Your writing supports the customer journey including first run experiences, UX, content creation, and teaching moments. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative cultures, can handle competing requests, and is successful with tight deadlines. You are customer obsessed. You care about details, but you think strategically and can always map what you’re delivering to the big picture. You understand the power of words and how to bring them to life through designing experiences, creating stories, and setting the tone for the product. You want to be a part of the rapid innovation in technology solutions that increase productivity and connectedness.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as part of a cross-functional team including design, research, engineering, marketing, and project managers to participate in design sprints, test ideas, and ensure language quality.
  • Continually improve upon and evolve content strategies and optimize for cohesion across products and experiences.
  • Write and edit friendly, brilliantly clear UI text & conversational dialogue.
  • Use multiple sources of customer data to inform content strategy as well as day-to-day optimizations.
  • Understand and evangelize our brand voice and tone.

Qualifications

  • Partner team resides in Beijing, China—must be able to shift some of your work hours accordingly.
  • 3-5+ year track record of delivering creative experiences on tight deadlines
  • 3-5+ experience writing for instructional, conversational, and entertainment purposes (playwriting/screenwriting, joke writing, narrative design, exhibition/museum design, creative/fiction writing, etc.)
  • Experience working in product design, copywriting, technical writing, brand design, or brand marketing.
  • Portfolio review of writing and content samples.
  • BA/BS degree in Arts, Digital Communications, Creative Writing, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, Theatre or related field OR equivalent experience.

Additional qualifications

  • Human-centered design knowledge
  • Inquisitive passion for modern technology
  • Ability to represent content strategy as an integral part of iterative product development
  • Experience in customer research
  • Flexible, versatile writing across form factors, subject matter, and audiences
  • Creative collaboration and problem-solving skills
