We are looking for a Geriatrician to work in the Health of Older Persons Service at Capital and Coast DHB (Restorative health of Older Persons).  The person in this role may be required to work in any part of the Health of the Older Persons Service which has SMO roles in all three of our community bases as a community geriatrician, as well as in the acute setting in the Wellington Regional Hospital, as well as Kenepuru Community Hospital.

The current vacancy is a role in the Wellington Community, working alongside Health of the Older Persons Nurse Practioners in the community, and the role is embedded within a multidisciplinary team.  This role has close working relationship with primary care and supports the management of older adults to remain well in our community.

As a senior medical officer, you will provide specialist clinical services and also training and mentoring for junior medical staff attached to the Older Persons Services. The on call requirement is 1:7-8 on-call.

Duties

• Care of Health of Older Persons  inpatients
• Oversight of Registrar and House Surgeon within team
• Participation in On call roster covering Inpatient wards at Kenepuru
• Oversight and mentoring of Health of the Older Person Nurse Practioners/candidates

Skills & Experience

• FRACP and vocationally registered in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment
• Relevant training and experience
