The opportunity

 

We are looking for a Compliance Manager within EY’s Oceania Independence team to support EY’s compliance with Auditor’s independence requirements. The role requires high energy and enthusiasm and is an excellent opportunity to support a fast-paced business through internal consultations and monitoring compliance with regulatory and EY-internal requirements. You will work alongside an experienced manager group that is focused on doing the right thing for EY and our clients. 

You will be an independent self-starter with strong customer service. You will thrive in a busy environment with diverse consultations and interactions. You enjoy variety and appreciate that each day may be quite different than you planned, as this is the nature of this diverse role.

 

This role is being offered on a full time, 12 month fixed term basis and can be based in our EY Melbourne, Sydney or Auckland Offices.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

Develop an understanding of the full range of services that the firm provides to meet the requirements of our clients and the firm’s tools and solutions as well as the engagement acceptance processes 

Work closely with our business and provide advice to stakeholders on auditor independence policies and firm processes 

Perform compliance monitoring and testing of key components of our compliance framework and identify process improvements and training needs. 

Supporting the wider Independence and Risk Management team on a variety of risk and compliance issues and topics

Development of junior staff through on the job training

Mentor staff and conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff

Building relationships with EY teams and colleagues through networking and consultations and championing Independence

Delivering assigned projects with agreed outcomes; meeting project milestones; providing timely updates

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

To qualify for this role, you must have  

 

Tertiary qualifications in a related field

5+ years compliance / risk management or audit or internal audit experience 

A self-driven and highly motivated personality with curiosity and a high propensity to learn

A proven track record of working efficiently in a busy and fast-paced environment under time pressure, with the willingness to roll up your sleeves

A high level of networking, team building and stakeholder management skills

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including but not limited to active listening, adapting communication style, asking questions, being clear and concise, and giving/receiving feedback

Growth mindset and willingness to learn (including being proactive and open to asking questions) 

Sound analytical capability, comfortable with spreadsheets, data manipulation and analysis and contractual agreements 

Must have a very good eye for detail and be quality driven

Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously 

A team player, happy to help other team members as required

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

The skills to be meticulous, thorough and systematic

Critical thinking and pragmatic problem solving

Sound knowledge of MS Office: Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel
