Job Description

Being a Compliance Advisor means investing in the implementation of effective solutions, new working methods to embody and better communicate our primary mission, which is risk management.

Your job

  • Act as a contact person with the various compliance monitors as well as internal partners (business line, operations, etc.) and respond to various requests associated with risk management by providing relevant and quality information
  • Support, when necessary, the team of the legal or internal investigation department to respond to regulatory needs and requests
  • Monitor social media posts and identify potentially non-compliant situations
  • Conduct due diligence reviews of new wealth advisors
  • Support requests for approval of external activities for registrants who work at the head office
  • Contribute to the development of compliance training and awareness programs
  • Ensure the maintenance of technological tools as well as act as an agent of change by promoting their adoptions
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of new work systems and processes and ensure the maintenance of technological tools as well as act as an agent of change by promoting their adoption
  • Work on projects that help improve team efficiency and information sharing.

This position reports to the Director, Compliance - Business Conduct.  This is a temporary position of 15 months that could be extended beyond the 15 months depending on the evolution of the team. Responsibilities may also evolve over the course of the position's mandate and talent mobility is highly encouraged within National Bank.

Competencies required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field (Law, Economics) and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Analytical ability with a strong solution orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to provide advice to internal partners
  • Mastery of computer and collaboration tools (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Bilingualism (spoken/written) French and English

Preferred competencies:

  • Resourcefulness, openness, and adaptability in a changing environment
  • A team player and a collaborator
  • Successful completion of relevant courses, including: Securities Course (CSC), Standards of Conduct Handbook and Branch Manager course, an asset

This position will allow you to apply your knowledge of the securities industry while constantly learning given the broad scope of activities in the sectors served.
