We are looking for a Support Worker to support a group of three very cool young adults with intellectual disabilities, in this 30 hour/week role.
The male of the house is a keen musical theatre enthusiast, and will certainly jump at any opportunity to perform his signature Michael Jackson moves where you will truly believe he is the real MJ. He has a keen interest in athletics and has been known to walk from one end of Wellington to the other just because he enjoys walking. He has performed in theatre productions including one that won "Best in Fringe". He is great to hang around with, loves a good joke and laugh.
This role also supports two young woman who enjoy going swimming, boxing and other fun forms of exercise like Zumba. They are very social and like to go dancing, shopping, a bit of a challenge at timezone and all the free events Wellington has to offer. They want permanent employment and to gain skills so that eventually they may live a life without support workers.
They would like a support worker who can enjoy the things they do, providing company and encouragement, and talking about life's opportunities and challenges, like work, learning, friendships, and relationships. You would be their guide and mentor and ensure they have the information they need to make their own choices. No day will be the same and you will make many new connections along the way.
