Spectrum Care Trust supports people with intellectual disabilities to live their lives of choice. We're currently looking for someone with experience to support a young man who lives in Moera, Lower Hutt, who also spends time on his family farm in the Wairarapa. This is a Permanent Part-Time role of 64 hours/fortnight.
The ideal candidate will be someone with get up and go, someone who thinks outside of the square. This young man makes the routine but he would like someone that will encourage new possibilities.
Your role will be to ensure ongoing support, to get out and about, you will also be supporting him with his job one day a week, support him to cook healthy meals and try new recipes, and of course there are day to day normal flatting chores. You will support him to learn new social skills, maybe he might like to meet new people, develop relationships and most of all explore new interests. Farm work is also a possibility as our young man drives the tractor on the farm and supports his family with haymaking and wood chopping.
From time to time we may also require you to support others in their home in Upper Hutt. The flatties there enjoy camping, music, comedy, making things out of recycled goods, gaming and a good banter.
