Job Description

College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Palmerston North

For more than 80 years, Massey University has helped shape the lives and communities of people in New Zealand and around the world. Its forward-thinking spirit, research-led teaching, and cutting-edge discoveries make Massey New Zealand's defining University. Our Institute of Education programmes cover the spectrum of general education, professional preparation and continuing education pathways in Education.

We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic Clinical Educator/Senior Clinical Educator to contribute to our Secondary endorsement in our Initial Teacher Education programme. You will have appropriate qualifications, experience and expertise to organise, supervise and teach, with particular responsibility for clinical placements/practicum.

You will possess a relevant Master's degree, have recent teaching experience in Aotearoa NZ, have experience and understanding of Initial Teacher Education, and evidence an awareness of the critical importance of quality practicum experiences for student teachers. A current practising certificate with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand is essential.

Massey University is committed to being a Te Tiriti o Waitangi-led organisation. It is therefore expected that you will have an appreciation of the Aotearoa New Zealand context and a demonstrable commitment towards supporting the needs and aspirations of Māori. The Institute of Education is actively committed to developing a diverse staffing profile that matches that of New Zealand society as a whole.

Enquiries can be directed to Associate Professor Sally Hansen, Institute of Education, Massey University, via email at S.E.Hansen@massey.ac.nz

Applications close at 11.30 pm Thursday, 17 March 2022.

Note: All applications must please be submitted online rather than emailed directly to Associate Professor Hansen.

Massey University is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of our staff and students. All students, staff and visitors need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or medically exempt, in order to come onto our campuses or to take part in face-to-face University-managed activities from the 14th of February 2022. Therefore, any positions that fit this criteria will require the successful applicant to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have a New Zealand Ministry of Health issued medical exemption. Should you apply and be successful for any of our roles, evidence of your vaccination status will be requested if face-to-face University-managed activities or coming onto a Massey campus is a part of your employment.
