We have an exciting new role available for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurse on a pathway to becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Children's Ward at Southland Hospital working alongside children and whanau of recently diagnosed patients with Neurological conditions.

What makes this role exciting is the opportunity that it provides you to further your career and provide support to progress through the Professional Learning Portfolio to become a clinical nurse specialist. It is anticipated that this journey to CNS will take two years and will involve you undertaking four modules at postgraduate level. You will be supported by existing clinicians within the specialty to help you to develop as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Based in the Children's ward you will also provide support to whanau and children in the paediatric support service.

About you

To succeed in this role you will need to be the following:

• Be a Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
• Have experience and credibility within the health care team as a professional resource in the area of paediatric neurology nursing
• Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate evidence based nursing advice to a Multidisciplinary team
• Have advanced paediatric health assessment skills
• Hold a nursing portfolio and have the ability to work towards advanced practice
