Job Description

At Apple, we work every day to craft products that enrich people’s lives. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? Do you like changing the game? We have an opportunity for a forward-thinking and unusually creative IC Designer. The people who work here have reinvented entire industries with all Apple Hardware products. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices — strengthening our dedication to leave the world better than we found it. Are you ready to join our team and help us deliver the next groundbreaking Apple products? As a senior member of our CAD team, you will architect, develop, maintain and enhance AMS simulation methodology and solutions for our Analog, RF and mixed-signal designs. The role requires you to work with different technology nodes and provide flows/methodologies for the different tool sets. Working in a small CAD team, you will be collaborating with the analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuit design teams. The role will also involve partnering with layout design, technology, and 3rd party EDA tool vendors to drive and coordinate effort of developing and validating AMS/co-simulation flows, improving custom design environment, validating checks and doing results analysis.

Key Qualifications

  • - Typically requires 5+ years of proven experience in analog-mixed signal circuit simulations with Analog/RFIC design background and/or related CAD/automation support areas involving various technology nodes and tape out.
  • - Proficiency on industry mixed-signal simulation tools, including Cadence AMS Designer, Incisive/Xcelium – NC/compile/elab/sim, Verimix/SpectreVerilog, SimVision (interactive and batch), Virtuoso AMS-in-ADE environment; Synopsys – XA, VCS, Verdi, waveform debug; Mentor – Symphony, Questa and other industry tools. Strong ability to tackle simulation accuracy, speed and capacity issues. Experience in evaluating simulation and environment related CAD tool/product applications and driving EDA vendors to meet design requirements.
  • - Strong understanding on VerilogA, RTLs - Verilog/AMS, SystemVerilog, VHDL; SPICE/Spectre formats with exposure to analog/digital design is required.
  • - Exposure to co-simulation techniques such as Connect Rules, Connect Modules, AMSD block, IE setup, discipline resolution, wreals, TCL probing, and SV/DC is desirable. Proficiency in mixed-signal simulations techniques, optimization and understanding of using Monte Carlo methods and Reliability/aging analysis involving Self-Heating is a plus.
  • - Understand custom IC designs, and knowledge of Post-layout extraction.
  • - Understanding behavioral models for AMS/EM circuits, experience in Verilog- A/AMS. Knowledge of PDK and spice models qualification.
  • - Efficient programming skills in TCL, Python, SKILL language, Perl, or Shell. Ability to provide automations for rapid and dynamic design needs. Knowledge in Perforce and/or regressions is preferred.
  • - Knowledge in Virtuoso Schematic Editor, PDK, CDF, Callbacks, Netlisting, Virtuoso Analog Design Environment (ADE-L/XL/GXL/Maestro) is desirable. Experience with Cadence AMS Netlister (Cell-based, OSS based, etc. binding solutions) with in ADE environment, Hierarchy Editor configurations for schematic/behavioral views, cell/instance/occurrence-based binding solutions, Virtuoso Layout Editor, Virtuoso Constraints, Modgen, PCells, and Matlab is a plus.
  • - Good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well with multi-functional teams.

Description

Directly influence the advancement of a variety of technology nodes and develop/support flows on analog circuit topology and electrical rule checks. We are a small CAD team, so you will have impact with the analog and mixed-signal circuit design teams. Drive and oversee efforts developing and validating custom circuit checker flows, improving custom design environment, validating checks and doing results analysis as you partner with layout design, technology, and 3rd party EDA tool vendors. Solving AMS (Analog-Mixed Signal) simulation design and modeling issues related to circuits, thereby influencing the advancement of a variety of technology. The people who work here have reinvented entire industries with all Apple Hardware products. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices -- strengthening our commitment to leave the world better than we found it. Join us to help deliver the next groundbreaking Apple products. We work in a Virtuoso design environment. Do you have strong abilities to work on circuit topology identification, recognition, netlist tracing to find design issues while developing internal solutions? Please highlight your required 5+ years' experience in AMS co-simulations on circuits and/or related CAD/automation support areas involving various technology nodes, custom IC designs and tape out.

Education & Experience

MS / PhD preferred in a technical discipline.
