This is a permanent role that can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington office.
This role is in our System Delivery and Performance group which is responsible for managing and monitoring delivery, in conjunction with Te KÄhui (our Maori Housing group). Bringing together delivery and supply functions, land acquisition and development, and the management of our contracts and reporting on delivery and investment.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key role within the Housing Supply team, and as a senior member of the team takes a lead role in conducting the feasibility analysis of new opportunities, with the support of our senior commercial advisors, and is instrumental in converting these opportunities into deliverable projects with Public Housing strategies and work programmes. Our BDM's led small teams to work with our partners, Community Housing Providers (CHPs) and Transitional Housing Providers to deliver housing across New Zealand for those in need. You will be working alongside our partners in developing applications for funding, providing support and advice regarding due diligence, procurement and purchasing processes.
Our BDM's inspire the commitment of stakeholders to HUD's vision and strategic direction, and in particular the Public Housing strategy is understood with stakeholder buy in and support in achieving key deliverables and gain the trust and confidence of key cross-agency and external stakeholders. BDM's play a leading role in the facilitation of strong communication channels between the HUD and external stakeholders.

You will have a strong commercial background and could be coming from a wide variety of backgrounds. Our current BDMs come from across the Property, Professional Services and Banking sectors. They come with experience in managing stakeholder relationships and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will be able to led multiply projects from initial enquiries through to projects which are now at delivery stage. Deal lifecycle can be anything from one year or serval years for large developments. You will need to step into a fast paced, complex government environment. You will be driven to bring in new projects and move applications forward, working with our partners to deliver on public and transitional housing across New Zealand.
