Our clients span the full spectrum of the electricity supply chain including renewable generation developers, energy sector investors, transmission and distribution network service providers, retailers, regulators and government departments.

 

About the opportunity

 

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Business Analyst to join the EY‑ROAM team in Brisbane, Sydney or Perth.

 

You will be expected to guide the continuous improvement of our software tools and electricity market data sets. You will take the initiative on a range of crucial software and IT innovation programmes to help ensure we retain and extend our market leading status.

 

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability team effectively with client facing team members and developers, be comfortable working in a fast-paced consulting environment, be well organised and have the ability to manage competing priorities. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate creative problem solving skills, high quality analytical skills and be prepared to rapidly expand their understanding of modelling energy markets.

 

In parallel, you will have the opportunity to target your learning and development towards key areas of interest.

 

Required skills and attributes for success

 

Relevant tertiary education in information systems, information technology, business administration, business analytics, software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, data science or a similar discipline. Additional qualifications in the fields of power systems and electricity markets would be an advantage, but not a requirement.

Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully identify and translate the requirements of internal stakeholders into mature, efficient, serviceable and scalable software tools.

Demonstrated ability to document business requirements, technical requirements, functional specifications, and business processes.

2 to 5 years of relevant experience

 

Desirable skills and attributes for success

 

Demonstrated understanding of software development principles.

Demonstrated ability to improve data management and data analytics processes.

Experience with database server management and data structure design.

Broad experience with a range of software programs and programming languages such as SQL, Python, Excel, Microsoft VBA, Matlab, C, Java, PHP, HTML, PowerBI, Azure, Web API, Angular or similar would be considered advantageous but is not required

High level numeracy skills with demonstrated experience in manipulating, querying, investigating and analysing large data sets efficiently in order to finding meaning and develop compelling data visualisations.

An understanding of, or willingness to learn about the structure, key drivers and rules relevant to electricity market operations and planning.
