Position: Broadcast Engineer

Location: 2900 Agricola Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week. Additional as required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Subject to Bell Media standards, inspect, maintain, repair, service, upgrade and/or modify broadcast facilities (structural, electrical and mechanical) including studio physical plant and facilities
  • Subject to Bell Media standards, inspect, maintain, repair, service, upgrade and/or modify transmitter sites including physical plant and systems
  • Subject to Bell Media standards, inspect, maintain, repair, service, upgrade and/or modify information technology systems including  information technology components (e.g. workstations)
  • Ensure the calibration and alignment of equipment to specifications
  • Provide technical assistance in response to staff requests for equipment servicing or problems
  • Arrange remote broadcast lines, ensure integrity of station signal, perform light building maintenance
  • Perform on-call duties as scheduled
  • Related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Electronics, Information Technology
  • Full knowledge of electronics, schematics, electricity, transmitters and radio station equipment
  • Mastery of technical trouble shooting procedures
  • Excellent problem definition and resolution skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, prioritization and time management skills
  • Good communication skills for issue resolution with non-technical staff
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Self motivated with ability to work without direct supervision as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle associated stress and react quickly and accurately to deadlines within a collaborative atmosphere
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and able to prioritize multiple job demands
  • Full Knowledge of Information Technology including programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Audition, and other broadcast related applications
  • Previous experience in a broadcast environment would be an asset

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
