Job Description

We are looking for that special person who relates well to staff, visitors and contractors, possesses great organizational skills, is enthusiastic and reliable. The ability to use initiative, while working confidently in a team environment and complimenting a positive team atmosphere is essential. In this role you will wear many hats- from meeting and greeting visitors to providing administration support to our stakeholders.

This position is office based Monday 

  • Reception Duties including answering incoming calls.
  • Managing a team email inbox and responding to emails
  • Travel Bookings
  • Office Inductions for staff and contractors
  • Processing invoices and ordering goods
  • Managing meeting room requests including catering and parking requests
  • Assisting with other Operational Support functions as required

You will need to be professional, well-spoken, organised and comfortable dealing with a wide range of people. If youtake pride in completing your work to a high level, providing input to improve, develop processes and want to become part of a supportive team, then you are just the type of person that our Support Team of the Intelligence & Biosecurity Support Services Directorate is looking to recruit.

  • Experience in a reception or administrative role in a corporate office environment
  • A drive to deliver an exceptional customer experience in every interaction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels including with the public
  • A high level of organizational skills, the ability to deliver on time and solve problems as they arise.
  • Clean criminal record

The Ministry for Primary Industries is helping to seize export opportunities for our primary industries, improve sector productivity, ensure the food we produce is safe, increase sustainable resource use, and protect New Zealand from biological risk.

The Biosecurity branch has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders.  It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur. The branch also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group which was established to manage food, biosecurity and animal welfare response consistently and effectively.
