This is an exciting time to join the Biosecurity team at MPI and be the pivotal point of contact for all timesheet and payroll enquiries. You will be the ‘go to' person for all pay queries and issues; the subject matter expert on everything to do with pay; the person to maintain compliance with payroll processes. You will ensure pay is processed correctly and consistently and will provide a centralised contact point for pay queries and processing for the Operations team. Approximately 500 timesheets are submitted every fortnight for rostered staff who are on various collective agreements. There is a need for a ‘go to' person to manage payroll, someone to ensure that all employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with their relevant terms and conditions of employment.

 You will have the opportunity to provide input to improving operations payroll systems and processes. This position is an opportunity for you to take ownership, shape this role and deliver a great payroll service for the team.

 The Responsibilities of the role:

• Be the final review and check point for timesheets prior to submission to our payroll provider
• Be the point of contact and subject matter expert for payroll enquires within the team
• Engage with managers, staff and our payroll provider to address issues and resolve them effectively
• Investigate issues, provide timely resolution always with consideration to preventing the issues arising again
• Manage overpayments and take opportunities to educate staff and managers
• Upskill the team on relevant systems, processes and legislation
• Provide payroll reports for the business to inform them of time and pay related information
• Investigate payroll issues and resolve ongoing problems
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the smooth running of the Payroll function
• Assist with the development, implementation and review of policy & procedures that relate to Border Clearance time and attendance
• Maintain payroll integrity and confidentiality at all times.

 Mōu - About You

 To be successful in this role you will be a knowledgeable Payroll Advisor with experience administering a large and busy payroll function. You will have had exposure to and an understanding of collective agreements and the Holidays Act. You will have a high attention to detail, be able to use your initiative and work in an independent manner in collaboration with the wider team.

You will have a high degree of integrity with the ability to work with sensitive data and maintain trust and confidentiality. Your passion for people and strong interpersonal and communications skills will be brought into effect daily to engage and support employees at all levels within the organisation.

You'll be well organised with excellent time management skills and have the ability to prioritise and work independently. We're looking for a team player with a ‘can do' attitude who enjoys proactively working with data in a busy, small and supportive team.
